At Port Clyde kayaks we are dedicated to providing the best sea kayak tour in Maine with excellent service that is lots of fun.
Whether you are a kayak beginner or an experienced paddler, we have a tour to meet your needs. Instruction is included in the price of the tour.
We can tailor our Maine tours for more experienced paddlers as well. Custom and private tours are available. We sell Boreal Design, Necky and Old Town Kayaks and we use them for our sea kayak tours in Port Clyde Harbor and Muscongus Bay.
2 ½ Hour Guided Tour
We like to call this our Porpoise Tour! It is our most popular sea kayak tour. Get up close to our working fishing fleet, beautiful birds, small islands and the famous Marshall Point Lighthouse. We launch from out water front kayak store and head away from the harbor towards tranquil Deep Cove. The fragrance of spruce trees and wild roses drifts through the air as osprey circle overhead. Porpoises often surface, feeding in our midst.
$55

4 Hour Guided Tour
Venture a little further into Muscongus Bay and take more time exploring some of Maine's treasured islands or a remote beach. We usually head across the Saint George River towards Maple Juice Cove or Pleasant Point Gut.
$69
Craignair Inn Tour
A wonderful trip for Craignair guests or returning clients looking for something new! Leave from the beautiful Craignair Inn on Clark Island just 15 minutes from Port Clyde and explore the waters of Wheelers Bay or Long Cove. We'll see cormorants, several gull species, and blue herons along shores dotted with sea roses. This is a two and a half hour tour followed by a picnic lunch on the Inn grounds.
$58 for Craignair guests, $65 non guests includes lunch.
Full Moon Tour
Paddle out into the setting sun and watch the full moon rise out of the ocean. A very special experience! $55

Sunset Tour
Port Clyde sunsets are spectacular. We launch our kayaks before sunset and float peacefully as the sky transform into a pallet of beautiful colors. $55

Tenants Harbor Tour
A favorite harbor for boaters, Tenant's Harbor is George's other working water front. We'll see the boat yard, the island lighthouse, and hear the history of the Granite Quarry and The Great Eastern Mussel Farm. $55
St. George River Trip
Leave historic Thomaston Harbor on an incoming tide. Paddle beneath towering bluffs, along panoramic farm vistas, through undeveloped marshes and woodland embankments: all the natural habitat of eagles, osprey, turkeys, and deer. After a stop for lunch, we head back on the outgoing tide. Trips scheduled according to tides and weather. Paddle time for this tour is about 4 hours plus a stop for lunch. Plan on a full day adventure. $79.00
Island Camping Trips
Three unique island camping trips are now available! Explore Maine’s unforgettable coastline by day and camp on its wild and remote islands by night. Our goal with these trips is to provide a challenging yet safe, educational, relaxing and fun experience.

Downeast
The term "Downeast" refers to a sailor's heading. The prevailing maritime winds took the old sailing fleets down wind and east along the coast. If you look towards Canada from Schoodic Point on the northeastern edge of Acadia National Park, you'll begin to see Downeast Maine. You see where tourism ends and one of the last places for real adventure on the east coast of the United States begins. It's a place where narrow peninsulas finger out into the cold Fundy current. Tamarack pine, peat bogs, and blueberry barrens replace oak forests. The fog is more enduring and impenetrable. The farther east one paddles, the more sub-arctic the coastal ecosystems appear. The climate is cool, raw, and damp all but one or two months each year. Rare arctic flowers occupy the extreme tips of islands and peninsulas. Even today, the settlements along the coast and occupying islands are few and far between.

Deer Isle
The Deer Isle Archipelago occupies the eastern side of the Penobscot Bay. Considered by many to be the heart of the Maine Coast, several of Maine’s biggest industries, including fishing, ship building, and quarrying, have a long history in this region. In addition to it’s rich economic history the Penobscot Bay is home to some of the most breathtaking landscape on the east coast. The island group directly off of Deer Isle is one of the densest in the world, and is bordered on its southern end by Isle Au Haut. Isle Au Haut is one of the few year round island communities left on the Maine coast, and is also home to a portion of Acadia National Park. This region contains a superb mixture of sea kayaking opportunities. From adventurous paddling in the open waters around the far flung islands to quiet exploration of the channels and coves amongst the dense inner islands. This area provides the explorer with scenic landscapes and a variety of wildlife.

Muscongus Bay
Muscongus Bay is in the heart of mid-coast Maine, sandwiched between Monhegan Island and Pemaquid Point, and within it lays a happy concentration of the beauty and the history of the Maine Coast. It is also central to some of the best sea kayaking in the state. This trip provides the explorer with scenic landscapes and a variety of wildlife, and is a fascinating area that holds treasures for those interested in kayaking, botany, geology, ornithology, photography, history, and more. The native people, followed by Europeans, sustained life from its rich waters. It is a rare place where land and sea are eternally linked; a place where Mother Nature, with her whimsical hand, carved out spectacular landscapes.
